Hartung Street 9-13

Former Jewish Community Center
The building was established during the years 1903-04 by architect S. Engel for the Henry Jones Lodge.
In 1937 it was renovated by the architects Block & Hochfeld and turned into a Jewish Community Center that included a theater hall with a stage. The building became the center of Jewish cultural life in Nazi Germany.
From 1945 it has become the center for Hamburg’s Chamber Theater.
