I further recall names of streets and restaurants:

The Altona Central Station, where one could buy roasted almonds for 5 Pfennig. The conductor with the blue and red cap used to call out: “Altona Central Station, everyone please exit the train!” And from there it wasn’t very far from home, unlike the very sad song: “When I ask the wanderer…”

The Kaiserhof, close to the Central Station; in its Festival Hall the Don Kosaken choir used to perform their songs with their deep bass voices and cheer the acrobatic sword dancers with their intensifying rhythm.
